moody dressing
My husband has been travelling for work, which means I’ve been carrying the weight of parental responsibilities solo. While the work is unrelenting, what really gets me is how lonely it can all feel, especially when you’re used to sharing in all of life’s silliness with someone by your side.
However, adjusting to a new normal has been a fairly smooth process. I am a creature of habit, and if I can stick to a routine, I find it keeps me happiest. I heard (or read) recently that “action dictates mood”, and I’ve been repeating that to myself. When I’m feeling down I ask myself what I can do to get out of the funk, and finding an actionable solution *usually* works. Let me also just add that hormones are a wild ride in these late 30s. I don’t think I truly realized how much hormones affected my body and mind until now, wow!
Dressing up has continued to be driven by function and mood. I need to feel good in my clothes all the time.
If I can achieve that baseline of good, things seem easier to tackle. Some light shopping has helped too. I bought these drawstring wool pants that I’ve already worn a bunch in the last two weeks. They are petite friendly which is a win. I’ve worn them to a meal out, to school pick up and at home.
A hero piece this fall has been the Toteme suede shirt. I put this outfit together in a flash yesterday for a coffee date with my daughter.
A new purchase this month - from the JWA and Uniqlo collab - is this shirt that felt very me. It is 100% cotton, and has a soft, brushed texture for cosy feels. I am also enjoying these wool pants that were gifted to me by Insis Femme. The fit of these is incredible and I didn’t have to get them hemmed, another win. Not sponsored, and no affiliate links for these, but I do really like them. Their sizing isn’t inclusive and a little hard to gauge. I would suggest getting in touch with them if you are inclined to order.
I wore this salwar suit on Diwali. It was a quiet affair this year.
But all the lights were lit!
The leaves are shedding! How cute are these twins I spotted at school pickup!
That’s all from me! Are you dressing up for halloween?
xx

I love the plum trousers so much! Can you share what size you took?
So much good wool pant inspo here! I’m hoping to add a pair to my closet this winter.
