Give yourselves some grace - change is always hard. You will find your stride soon enough. PS That dries skirt is the size of a postcard in real life!! It'll be great as a third piece though. And chan Luu makes a lot of pieces in India so that tracks.
Makes sense about Chan Luu, and I was reading about Dries and the connection to Indian artisans. Maybe that’s why I am (we are) so drawn to both these designers??
My husband is an immigrant (originally from the DR but also grew up in Spain) and he is so homesick for Spain. We've talked about if we should ever move there for a period of time. Moving takes so much courage. I admire all the changes you have made and hopefully you enjoy this new city!
Biggest hugs your way, Ritika. This post brought me joy, I hope it did the same for you. I love the tunic, but I love you feeling your best even more. 🧡
Ritika, sending good thoughts your way 🙏🏽 change and settling takes time and it hits in waves 😔 loved seeing you find the silver shopping linings:) your daughter & I have similar taste, I had saved that shirt to my hearts 🫣 I hope you are the one who got it!!!
Thanks so much, Merve! You're right, the path to adjustment isn't a straightforward one. I wish I had gotten that shirt!! Someone else snagged it before I could 😁
Sending you so much love. Leaving a place you knew so well and people you close dear is so hard. Even when you willingly wanted to move into a new adventure. Soon you'll find your stride and things will feel a little easier.
I love the print on the Dries skirt! Also, moving away made me realize how much brands favor the US. I didn't realize how easy it was to get things shipped or even to have duties & fees covered. It has caused me to shop less though 😅
Thanks so much, Ofelia ❤️ not shying away from this discomfort, it's so telling of the things we hold dear to us. I am practicing what I tell my daughter, to focus on things that are constants - like each other, our innate qualities like love for food and curiosity that we will still have with us no matter where we go.
Haha so true about brands favouring US! Lots of temptation here 😬
Sending you love, Ritika. We gotta grieve these losses even if there are good things that come out of it. I hope you find some normalcy in the days to come and a safe place in the Airbnb to receive the shopping (so. Important!) ❤️
Thanks, my friend! You get it! I never shy away from my feelings, and I like living this way, allowing myself to experience all of it so I don't carry the burden of them for too long. We had a lovely weekend, and I think normalcy will find its ways ❤️❤️
I feel this!! But on the other end of it, as someone who feels really firmly rooted because of the community we’ve made and our comfortability where we are, in many ways. But I could also see it as complacency: I think pushing past the discomfort definitely gives you more opportunity to grow. And as a friend of mine once told me, there’s a reason we are where we are—someone or something needs you back here in the States!!
I love that, Angela! There is a lot of discomfort and resistance, but I know I'll move past it. Something must need me back here, or I must need it to grow. Thank you ♥️
Oh Amiga, I know the feeling. It always happens to me and the older we get, it does get worse. You’ll find new friends and the kids are resilient, but I understand how you feel. Love all clothes and that Dries skirt I also want it, ha! Get the shirt, your daughter is right amiga
As someone who has lived many places, I often think you can never be 100% because you leave a little part of you and your relationships behind. It means always missing something, but also I think of the growth and the experience I gained by doing it and would not change that. But yeah we left NYC and cried all the way out of town.

♥️ Usha! Haha I'm surprised about the Dries skirt! Yes, Chan Luu's designs have always felt very south asian inspired!
I was shocked! Barely covered my bum 🤣🤣🤣 but YMMV!!!
Haha that's no good!

Yes, Dries has partnerships with artisans in Kolkatta, doesn't surprise me at all. The colours, the patterns all have that sensibility.

Awww looking at pretty things always helps the world go round, lean in, and I hope they lift your spirits 🩷
Thanks, Lindsay! So true, appreciating beauty is a simple pleasure that makes life worth living 🩷

Yes, it’s an adjustment! Thanks for reading ❤️

You get it, Leah! Always nostalgic about all the places that have a piece of me 💔
Ok I agree with your daughter. You need that pretty top! Shopping therapy does help!
Haha thanks Danielle, she has a good instinct about these things!
Clearly!!
